Description

The Suffolk Foot & Ankle Clinic provides Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon led Foot and Ankle care to patients from across Suffolk, North Essex and further afield. Clinics are run at Gilmour Piper and the Nuffield Hospital in Ipswich.


Training

Mr Al-Nammari is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the Foot and Ankle.  His undergraduate medical training was in Edinburgh.  He was subsequently awarded a scholarship to the University of Oxford where he furthered his studies in musculoskeletal medicine and was awarded a distinction for his dissertation on Charcot arthropathy.

His general surgical training, of four years, was divided between Edinburgh and London. This was followed by his appointment to the renowned six year Royal London Orthopaedic Surgery Training Programme where he began to specialise in Foot and Ankle surgery. He has spent time training at The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Guy’s & St Thomas’, King’s College, St George’s and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospitals. Following on from this he was awarded highly competitive awards from the European Foot and Ankle Society, The Royal College of Surgeons and finally the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society gold medal- these facilitated two further years of advanced Fellowship training in Foot and Ankle surgery at centres of excellence across the UK, Europe and the USA.

Mr Al-Nammari treats all adult musculoskeletal conditions affecting the Foot & Ankle.  Working with a team of

Academic and Research Interests

Mr Al-Nammari maintains an active research interest and is committed to advancing the field of Foot & Ankle surgery.  His current research interests include minimally invasive surgery in high risk patients, novel surgical treatments for hallux valgus, ankle instability and cartilage regeneration.  He has published book chapters, over forty peer reviewed scientific papers and has presented over fifty pieces of scientific work at national and international meetings.  He remains committed to surgical innovation and has previously described and published a variety of new surgical techniques- including for bunions, joint preservation in ankle arthritis and complex ankle fractures. 

 

He is a scientific reviewer for several Orthopaedic and Foot & Ankle surgery specific journals.  He continues to be involved in the training of both undergraduate and postgraduate trainees- training medical students from the University of Cambridge and junior Orthopaedic surgeons from across the east of England deanery.
