Chiropody and Podiatry

Our four experienced practitioners, Jon Collins, Becky Waldron, Rosannah Burden and Charlie Young, provide a wide range of general chiropody treatments from corns, callus and verrucae, to ingrowing and fungal toenails.

We specialise in treating foot and ankle pain; plantar fasciitis, heel pain/ spur, achilles tendonitis, bunions, medial and lateral knee pain, shin splints, capsulitis / bursitis associated with osteoarthritis in the joints of the foot and ankle.

We prescribe semi-modified and custom-made orthotic insoles in conjunction with physical therapies including massage, mobilisation, therapeutic ultrasound and many more as treatment is tailored to the individual.

We also treat ingrowing toenails conservatively with cutting in order to take pressure off the sides of the nails, or solve the problem permanently with a simple painless procedure that remove the side(s) of the nail ingrowing and kill off the nail root to prevent it from growing back.

Dry Needling for Chronic and Persistent Verrucae.

Dry needling is carried out painlessly under local anaesthetic. A sterile needle is then used to cause a localised trauma to the verruca itself. The aim of this is to implant the virally infected cells deeper in to the tissue where it is quickly detected by the immune system and an immune response is stimulated. This process has been around for nearly 40 years but its only recently reaching the shores of the UK from the states. It is very effective and suitable for most verrucas.

The Foot Wear Centre

We provide comfort and orthopaedic footwear for all. With our wide selection of styles for both men and women with wider, swollen feet we will have shoes to fit all foot types. In addition we undertake all shoe modifications from simple shoe stretching to rocker soles and shoe raises.

Osteopathy

Ross Skilton our osteopath can help diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions.  It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together.

To an osteopath, for your body to work well, its structure must also work well.  So osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery.  Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.  They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Sports Massage Therapy

Warwick Harvey our sports massage therapist can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether one is an athlete, ardent keep-fitter or a once-a-week jogger. Sports massage therapy is beneficial in alleviating the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. Warwick currently works with Brighton and Hove Football Club when not looking after his patients at The Foot Care Centre

Steroid Injections

Jon carries out steroid/ cortisone injections in the foot and ankle for chronic conditions that have not responded to conservative care such as; plantar fasciitis, policeman\'s heel, heel spur, Mortons neuroma, metatarsalgia, osteoarthritis in the ankle joint and ball of foot joints. There are a lot of myths around the use of cortisone and Jon would be happy to dispel some of them.
